Health and Human Services CollaborativeHousing Work Group Chair: Pat McMillan Vision: All persons in Morgan, Berkeley, and Jefferson counties have safe, appropriate and affordable housing. Mission: To foster availability of housing through education and advocacy through a partnership of community resources. The Housing Work Group meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 11:30. Next meeting: Wednesday, December 17, from 11:30 - 1:00 PM at Jefferson Community Ministries in Charles Town. The Homeless Point in Time Count was conducted in January 2008. Click here for the findings. Focus is on (1) community education about homelessness and need for affordable housing (2) developing grassroots efforts to directly address these issues (3) increasing capacity of affordable housing providers. Actions Include: Promote/participate in Community Impact columns in Journal Assist with - Point in Time Count for Homeless in Eastern Panhandle Sponsor"One Night Without a Home" in all 3 counties Outreach to religious congregations and civic groups about affordable housing needs Explore annual or bi-annual housing needs survey - is it helpful, are enough resources available Explore establishment of a ReBuilding Together chapter for the EP ("Christmas in April" housing repair blitz) Minutes from September Meeting
