Prescription Drug Abuse Quitline

Misuse of prescription drugs has reached epidemic proportions in the Mountain State.  WV has the largest increase in the US for death due to drug overdose: 550%.  Prescription drug abuse often begins with routine and necessary treatment for pain due to injury or medical condition, but spirals out of control to devastating personal damage and loss--or fatality.

In response, the West Virginia Prescription Drug Abuse Quitline was  recently launched and is ready to help any caller.

The Quitline, 1-866-WVQUITT, is available 24 hours a day for 7 days a week. Its purpose is to to educate prescription drug abusers and their families about the problem and services in their areas.   For more information, www.wvrxabuse.org.

Self Help Housing Telamon is currently looking for five families that would like to build their own homes. Five lots are available in Inwood. The Self-Help Program is for families under 80% of the median income limits. The families work together and supply up to 65% of the labor to build their homes. They do not need construction experience. They do have to qualify for a USDA/Rural Housing loan. No down payment is required and the monthly payment is based on the person’s income. This is a magnificent opportunity. Feel free to print copies of the attached flyer and distribute to co-workers, employees, family members or anyone that might be interested. For more information, contact Rosa Eggleton at 263-0916 ext. 13 or reggleton@telamon.org .
