Community Solutions Goals

The Community Solutions Councils, comprised of volunteers, spent a month reviewing statistics, listening to subject matter experts, and engaging in candid discussion about tough issues.  Their work resulted in the development of our Community Solutions Goals.

E-Postcard Filing for Nonprofits

Under the Pension Protection Act of 2006, tax-exempt organizations that normally have annual gross receipts of $25,000 or less must file an electronic Form 990-N [Electronic Notice (e-Postcard) for Tax-Exempt Organizations not Required to File Form 990 or Form 990-EZ ] for tax years beginning in 2007. According to the IRS, to file, "small tax-exempt organizations will need only a few basic pieces of information." The due date for filing Form 990-N is the 15th day of the fifth month after the close of the tax year (e.g., by 5/15/08 for calendar-year organizations). Since the information will be available to the public, the IRS also launched a disclosure site on www.irs.gov where interested persons can view a particular organization's e-Postcard.
